I'm gonna appreciate this post by liking, sharing, translating, and writing more about my thoughts...

This 77-year old lady picks plastic bottles and thrown broken foot wears on streets. She gets about 20$ per month as her pension, and she said that it's enough for her living. (It's hard to believe 20$ is enough for her living. She must be so content.) Picking plastic bottles and thrown broken foot wears is not for her living; but the problem is that she has no extra to donate. She really wanna donate while she has nothing. So, she started working this job for her donation. She gets about 1$ per day for selling those plastic things. With that money, she said happily that she cooks and donates lunch to monks every morning. For her, she eats only one meal per day 'cause she said that she's not hungry due to her old age. She can cook and donate a very good meal to monks once a month. She even always brings snacks and packs of candies while picking plastic things on the way to donate novices in the monesteries. She said that she can't live without donating to others. So, she said that she will keep donating as long as she is alive!

This post makes me think more and more. And I also remember the time when I visited to a Casino in a near-by city. I saw many old people were spending their time at Casinos which are full with smokes and noises. Since I don't know how to play cards properly, I just stood and looked behind the charis near one of those playing-cards table. I saw some old men were playing cards on table with their cash including hundred dollar bills. I notice one man was betting his hundred dollar bill one bill per game which lasts about one minute. When he loses the bet, he loses one hundred dollar. The game was so fast like a minute. I am not really sure how much pleasure he got by exchanging one hundred dollar with one minute of pleasure in one round of game! He spent at least 200$ within a few minutes just in front of my eyes. Then, I left and I don't know how much more bills of hundred dollars he would keep spending on further games on that table within a short moment of time.

I also have hobbies and interests that are not good for myself and others. So, I understand how big a person's hobby might be! And so, I won't say bad about other people's hobbies like gumbling here. I was just interested in how much I can do with that one hundred dollar which he spent within one minute of game. I can surely support a primary/middle school poor kid, whose parents passed away in Nargis storm in Myanmar, to pay for his studying expenses for one whole academic year in Myanmar. I can surely feed many stomaches starving for food with that amount of money during a day.

I'm also one of the persons who don't know how to spend money properly, and sometimes even spend money on unnecessary things for myself. I'm not picking any person who is interested in gumbling or wasting money; I just picked an obvious example on how we are wasting money while we can use the same amount of money very usefully.

I have read a post about a person from Sri Lanka. He is a taxi-driver and a cigarette smoker. Smoking is his additive habit that he hardly could get rid of. However, he started to calculate how much money he spent on buying cigarettes per day while he started to notice many starving poor dogs lying down on streets with no hope. He is a caring man on animals and finally he was determined to leave his smoking habit behind. And it turned out that he buys biscuits and snacks for starving dogs on streets with the amount of money he used to buy cigarettes per day. And he started to bring packs of snacks and biscuits while he drives and offers those food to starving dogs on streets everyday. He replaced the usage of money on buying cigarettes to indulge his bad habit with the usage of money on buying snacks for starving dogs on streets. How brave he is! He can get rid of his bad habit with a great donation everyday to starving animals.

I'm sure a normal person like me can't get rid of bad habits that easily. Don't be discourage if you were the person same as me! I get another type of advice from another post that I read before. We don't need to get rid of our bad habits of wasting money; instead we reduce the frequencies. We know ourselves when we are wasting money rather than spending. There might be many times we waste rather than spend. Whenever we like to waste our money, and we realize that we are wasting money, we try to control our mind not to waste it. After controling our mind successfully, we can go ahead and save the same amount of money that we planned to waste but we didn't. For example, we are thinking to go to an expensive restaurant which can normally cost us about 30$ per meal while another cheap restaurant can cost us only about 10$ per meal. We can decide to go to a cheap restaurant so that we can save additional 20$. It doesn't mean that we always have to go to a cheap restaurant; it just means that we can do it sometimes; it's still good to control our mind for two times while we planned to go to an expensive restaurant for ten times. We still can go there eight times; even that, we could save 40$ for not going only two times. Time after time, we will have an amazing amount of money gradually. And we can assume that these are the pure precious money which also can mean a great collection of our successes whenever we can control our mind to be content successfully. Whenever we use those money to offer or donate to starving living things or anywhere or anyone in needs, we would have a feeling of satisfactory coming from giving... an art of beautiful exchanging between greed (taking for self) and great giving (for others).......
